Entertainers Coming To Peoria Erin Feis August 2010
Profile of Acts for Performing Arts Stage
To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Erin Feis, the performing arts stage is offering a "Collection of Classics".
Please note that with the exception of Smock Alley Productions, all the performers on this stage are local. Prepare to be delighted.
Deb Beyer
Deb Beyer and Vanessa League will evoke the times of Irish bards with music from the 16th and 17th centuries performed on reproductions of Irish harps of that period.
Songs of the Past
Songs of the Past features, tenor, Aaron Ganshaw with accompaniest, Sue Hulin presenting Irish songs from the mid 1800's and beloved Irish American music. It is with these songs and Dirk McGinnis that Erin feis began. Here's to you, Dirk!
Smock Alley Productions
Irish Culture includes more than just music and poetry. Smock Alley Productions brings "Backwater", a play in one act. It is set in the present but could reflect any period in Irish immigration.
Flynn's School of Irish Dance
No "Collection of Classics" would be complete without dance, and integral part of Irish Culture. Flynn's School of Irish Dance will present and excerpt from "Deirdre". Peggy Flynn (Dwyer) has danced at Erin Feis and went on to form her own school to keep the tradition alive. Thanks, Peggy!
Songs From Then and Now
Songs From Then and Now picks up where songs of the past ends. Vocalists, Liz Bucher and Chris Mangold (Reilly's Daughter) accompanied by Sue Hulin and and, fiddler, Shannan Sullivan (Roundstone Buskers) have joined forces to offer songs from Solas, Gaelic Storm and other favorites. This should be a memorable event.
Tribute to Tommy Makem and The Clancy Brothers
On Saturday evening only, there will be a Tribute to Tommy Makem and The Clancy Brothers as offered by Reilly's Daughter, Chris Mangold. THis is an affectionate remembrance of this group and its contribution to Irish music. Feel free to sing along.
